Proofs are impressions made with a new stamp die for the purpose of inspecting the clarity, definition, and quality of the new die.
Multiple proofs can be made, one for each color that will be used for
the intended stamp, and each impression is carefully inspected for line
clarity and definition, ink coverage, and overall quality.
